SERJ TANKIAN Announces New Compilation Album Covers, Collaborations & Collages

Visionary musician, poet, and activist Serj Tankian has announced his return with Covers, Collaborations & Collages, a genre-defying new collection that celebrates reinvention, artistic unity, and storytelling. The album will be released on October 24 via Serjical Strike Records/Create Music Group. The project launches today with the first single, “Electric Dreams”. Over the next ten weeks, a new track will be revealed each Friday, culminating in the album’s release this fall.

Covers, Collaborations & Collages blends striking reinterpretations with bold partnerships across genres. Among its highlights is a hauntingly emotional cover of Chris de Burgh‘s “I’m Counting On You”, reimagined with Tankian‘s unmistakable vocal intensity.

Elsewhere, Serj Tankian joins electronic pioneer Deadmau5 on the hypnotic “A Seed”, while his duet with New Zealand songwriter Bic Runga, “T”hings Unspoken”, offers an ethereal exploration of intimacy. Acclaimed composer Lucas Vidal provides the orchestral backdrop for “Apocalyptic Dance”, a cinematic track where Serj Tankian bellows, “There are no more empires / Just burning campfires,” capturing themes of collapse and rebirth.

The collection also includes a moving rendition of Armenian songwriter Ruben Hakhverdyan‘s “When Death Arrives”, reflecting on mortality through a lens of love and truth.

Each track is accompanied by artwork created by artist D.S. Bradford, who also contributes guitar work on the soaring “Kneeling Away From The Sun”. Tankian will share weekly stories behind each release, offering fans rare insight into his creative process.

“Similar to Foundations, these are pre-existing archival recordings, some of them from way back,” Serj Tankian explained. “I wanted to put out a record of collaborations I haven’t released before, along with covers, which I haven’t done. The rest, the collages, are parts that fit the puzzle in the same tone, the same vibe.”
