This 1985 Volvo 240 wagon has been registered in Oregon, California, and Texas since new, and it was refurbished in 2017 by Wagonmeister of Palmdale, California. The project included a repaint in Polar White as well as a GLT-style interior conversion with power windows and blue velour upholstery. The car is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, and it has 15″ Virgo wheels, IPD sway bars, air conditioning, and a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth connectivity. It was acquired by its current owner on BaT in January 2022, and subsequent work involved replacing its timing belt and servicing its brakes, suspension, and drivetrain. This 240 shows 150k miles and is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a spare MOMO steering wheel, owner’s and repair manuals, service records dating to 2016, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the owner’s name.
Lighting assemblies, door handles, and moldings were removed before the body was refinished in its factory shade of single-stage Polar White (189). The windshield was also replaced by Wagonmeister, and the windows were tinted. Clear front indicator lenses, mud flaps, a roof rack, and a GLT tailgate badge are additional elements.
The 15″ Virgo wheels are mounted with 195/60 Falken Ziex ZE950 All Season tires that show 2018 production date codes. IPD stabilizer bars are noted along with polyurethane bushings, and the shock absorbers and strut mounts were replaced in 2023. In 2024, wheel bearings were repacked; the tie rod ends and front brake hoses, rotors, and pads were replaced; and an adjustable Panhard bar was fitted.
The interior features GLT-specification blue velour upholstery, and the front seats have replacement seat bottom cushions. Other appointments include power windows, cruise control, a swing-down pet barrier for the cargo area, air conditioning that uses R134a refrigerant, and a Bluetooth-capable RetroSound Grand Prix stereo that was installed in 2023.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 151k miles, ~3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.3-liter inline-four was factory rated at 114 horsepower and 136 lb-ft of torque. The rear main seal, mass air flow sensor, and catalytic converter were replaced in 2019. The fuel pump and level sender were replaced in 2021. The timing belt was replaced in 2022, and an absorbent-glass-mat battery was installed. The PCV flame trap was replaced in March 2023. The oil pressure switch was rewired in October 2024.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The transmission was resealed in 2019, and the transmission cooler lines were replaced along with the driveshaft center support and bearing. The u-joints were lubricated in 2022, and the shifter linkage was repaired.
A removed MOMO steering wheel accompanies the car in addition to manufacturer’s literature, repair manuals, and service records dating to 2016.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage. Entries from 2012, 2014, and 2019 state that the vehicle was designated as a Gross Polluter by the State of California.
