Standout students from Flea’s Silverlake Conservatory of Music are showing their appreciation for the school’s founder by releasing a new EP titled Our Loving Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The four-song effort, which is available to stream or download now, was executive-produced by Flea himself, along with Merck Mercuriadis, founder of Hiphnosis Songs. It contains covers of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ songs “Subway To Venus,” “Sick Love,” “Hump de Bump,” and “Soul to Squeeze.”
“The kids! I’m so grateful that our music can be a vehicle for their spirits to fly,” stated Flea. “This is what music is for. I am so proud of them.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis added, “I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be tributized by. Student musicians are the best. Let’s all take a listen to how they interpret these tunes. Thank you Flea and good work Merck.”

The EP was recorded by the SCM All-Stars, a collective of the top students at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Flea (on trumpet) recently joined a number of those students for a performance of “Hump de Bump” on Good Day LA.
